Thrifty Thursday

Its that time again. I wanted to share my scores with you! First up is this large San Diego map. I scored it for $3.00. I gave the frame a fresh coat of teal spray paint. You will get to see it again when I post my finished dining room pictures. I love San Diego! We have family who live in SD and have spent many weekends there.

Next, I found this huge basket. It has a home by the fire place. I think I'm going to use it to house some extra pillows and throws that are not in use.

I found two pillow covers for .25 a piece. I loved the colors in this quilted pillow cover. My dogs loved it too...so much that they decided to take it outside and play tug of war with it. It was fun to own for a day!

The second one is this hand stitched cover.  I thought it was too quirky to pass up. I sometimes like weird, ugly things, what can I say.

I also purchased this brass candle holder, heart bottle and music box lantern.

And lastly, I found this awesome ink drawing of a bear. I didn't waste any time getting it into a new frame and hanging it in my living room.

Those are my finds. Have you found some cool stuff lately? I wish we had better thrift stores in my area. There isn't a whole lot to chose from. It's kind of hit and miss so when I actually find something, I get so excited! Have a great end to your week.

Thrifty Thursday

It felt so great to go thrift store shopping Tuesday! It has been FOREVER since I have been shopping. I was trying to be good. Anything I brought home would add to this giant-mess-of-a-house we are living in, but I needed my fix and couldn't resist the temptation any longer. Here are my finds...
(You get a sneak peak of our new floors and base board too)

This abstract painting.

I found this wooden gazelle, because everyone needs a wooden gazelle. Believe me when I say, finding one with its horns still attached is a rare find.

These candle holders will look great after a good cleaning and polishing.

I liked the cork on these votive candles.

This wooden plant stand. Yes, I like wooden stuff.

I loved this photograph of the train tracks by the beach.

I already purchased some candle holders but these had me as soon as I turned them over. What an awesome homemade gift from dad in 1936. Awe, it made me think of all the awesome wooden things my father has made for me. I hope someone else is still enjoying them 70+ years later.

I can't wait to use these items as I redecorate our house. When I say "redecorate" I really mean: drag all my belongings from the garage and put them back in their places. It might still be a few weeks before I get to do that. We had an unseen hang up with finishing our floors. That was a sad realization but we hope to be back on track by next weekend. I hope you all have a great week!

Thrifty Thursday

I stopped by the Goodwill on my way home yesterday. I wasn't looking for anything in particular, just looking. That's always when you find the best stuff! I found this fun cake plate. It makes me want to start baking. It would also look cute on the wall or used as a tray.

I found this...what ever it is. Haha, I don't really know but I thought it was cool. Its from Israel in case you didn't notice. It has some cool fish engraved onto the metal.

I think it goes awesome in my hallway frame collage. Fills that gap perfectly.

The last thing I found was this ceramic bowel. If you know me, you know I love me some homemade ceramics.

I will never stop loving thrift stores. You always come home with one of a kind items. Hang in there, its almost Friday! Ill be back tomorrow.

Thrifty Thursday

It has been one busy week! I had my ten year old niece and five year old nephew staying with me while their mother was out of town. They are exceptionally good kids but I am exhausted! I thought I would reward myself for being such a good aunt with a thrift store trip. I also needed it to unwind. Kids are so much work!

Here is what I scored:

A green sun/star throw from India for $5.00

Three large photo prints that I plan to use for a project. $3.00

I couldn't leave the store with out this navy striped pottery jar. $5.00

I also found a shirt and two belts but I wont bore you with those or make you look at pictures of me modeling them. Haha You're welcome. Today starts a busy day at my clients house installing her closet desk. We are also finishing up a 16x20 scalloped bulletin board she requested. Busy busy!

Thrifty Tuesday

Who out there loves thrift shopping? It's not for everyone. Some people cringe at the idea. I get it, I do. The stores are usually smelly and full of other peoples used, dirty, unwanted junk. But in all that grossness there are treasures to be found. You just have to open your eyes and not set any limit to the possibilities.

Ive been thrifting for years. They were my favorite place to shop in my teens. You were guaranteed to find a flannel for your grunge look or a pair of "old man" plaid Punk Rock pants there. You could pay $3.00 and stuff a grocery bag full of stuff. My cousin and I wouldn't mess around with that deal. We came prepared with rubber bands to roll the clothes up and make them as small as possible. We had to get our moneys worth. Haha! Here are some treasures I found.

This mid century side table had great hardware. All it needs is to be painted a fun bright color. $25.00

They had mountains of vinyl records. For 50 cents you can't go wrong. I came home with a few myself.

I have a thing for homemade pottery. I don't know why, most of it is lop sided and ugly. But there is something about all the work that someone put into making it, along with their name that is etched on the bottom. Here are two pieces I found.

This shallow bowl with a lid would be perfect for dropping off your keys at the entryway. $2.00

Then you have this blue mountain/volcano perfect for holding flowers or pens. It became mine for 50 cents.

How cute would this basket look in the bathroom with three glass jars holding your q-tips, cotton balls and soap? You could paint it what ever color you wanted to coordinate.

I wish I had room for this guy. He could make an awesome bar cart. Add some wheels and paint him a bright fun color. I love the detail on the sides.

You could own this original print called "music mystery" for $2.00.

Or this b&w image could hang on your wall for $2.00 and remind you to keep recycling. I really liked this one! Hahaha

Maybe a photo of the Grand Canyon is more your style. $2.00

And you know I couldn't leave the store with out these two barbarian women ridding horseback. $2.00 Hahaha! Okay, I left this for someone else to have the pleasure of owning.

All of these items can be found at the Sacks Thrift Avenue thrift store in Hemet.
I hope you have a wonderful treasure filled Tuesday!
